About Steve Martin

Steve Martin (sometimes El Spooky) is a Southern California illustrator whose airbrushed paintings and adult anthropomorphic work have circulated in furry fandom since the early 1980s. Purple — mauve — is his color. Mauvette, the long-eared rabbit, is his best-known original character.

He contributed comics such as Space Mouse and Christian Critters to Rowrbrazzle, sold prints at conventions including ConFurence, Further Confusion, and Anthrocon, and published in titles like The American Journal of Anthropomorphics and Wild Side. Freelance credits outside the fandom include work for Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Disney Consumer Products, Mattel, Playmates, and Nickelodeon.

The old personal site lived at mauvette.com and later mauvette.net. This catalog rebuilds a public home for the paintings, sketches, and the BEBE webcomic from his files. Some pieces are finished color; some are still in the works.

He is not especially active on social media. A Fur Affinity presence has existed at times. This site is the intended gallery.
